Man hit and run over in Oxnard

On Friday, July 24, 2026 at approximately 9:01 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded with Emergency Medical Services to an injury traffic crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian in the 100 block of West Channel Islands Boulevard. Officers arrived and found a male pedestrian, approximately 60-years-old, lying in the driveway of the Center Point Mall. He was suffering from significant injuries, and was transported by ambulance to the Ventura County Medical Center. Later on the same day he was pronounced deceased. Officers located a Toyota Tacoma also in the driveway of Center Point Mall. The driver of Toyota Tacoma, a 53-year-old female resident of Oxnard, advised Officers she had hit and ran over the pedestrian. She cooperated with Officers and Traffic Investigators.
Traffic Investigators responded and took over the investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the Toyota had been traveling southbound through the driveway of Center Point Mall, approaching Channel Islands Boulevard. She stopped at the exit to check for traffic. The pedestrian had been walking eastbound on the north sidewalk on Channel Islands Boulevard. The pedestrian stepped into the driveway entrance and continued walking eastbound. The driver of the Toyota proceeded forward to make a right turn onto Channel Islands Boulevard and struck the pedestrian. The force of the crash caused the pedestrian to fall back. The driver did not notice the crash, and continued to make her turn. Her vehicle ran over the pedestrian.
Officers do not believe impairment by alcohol and/or drugs contributed to this crash. Speed was not a contributing factor to this crash.
