Man Arrested Accused of Attempted Homicide and Kidnapping

On Saturday, July 25, 2026, Ventura Police Department Patrol officers arrested a man for allegedly multiple violent charges related to a domestic violence incident.
On Saturday, July 25, 2026, shortly after 10:00 p.m., a woman arrived at the Ventura Police Department suffering from significant injuries. Paramedics were called, and the woman was transported to VCMC for treatment.
The injured woman reported that she had been in the company of the suspect at a bar in downtown Ventura. After they left the bar in a vehicle, the male became angry with her. The suspect began physically attacking the female and threatening to kill her. The suspect drove the victim to a remote part of Santa Paula on Wheeler Canyon Rd and told the victim he was going to kill her. The suspect drew a knife and cut her with it while this was occurring.
A nearby resident heard the commotion and intervened. This interrupted the violent attack and allowed the victim to flee. The victim later made her way to the Ventura Police Department and reported a slew of crimes to investigating officers.
Ventura Police Department patrol officers contacted the suspect and took him into custody without incident. At the conclusion of the investigation, Ignacio Anzaldo (33 years old, of Ventura) was booked into Ventura County Jail for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, false imprisonment by violence, domestic violence, destruction of evidence, and criminal threats.
